CONCORD, N.H. — The New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairman Scott Maltzie released the following statement: 

“Chris Pappas had a rough day yesterday,” said NHGOP Chairman Scott Maltzie. “He voted against keeping the Supreme Court at nine Justices, further proving he isn’t the moderate he claims to be to Granite Staters.”

“It got worse from there. Yesterday, Pappas was given a simple chance to condemn Abdul El-Sayed for standing alongside Hasan Piker, who said ‘America deserved 9/11,’ and he couldn’t do it. New Hampshire deserves a politician in Washington who can call out extremism when they see it. Pappas can’t even do that.”

Background: The House of Representatives voted on H.J. Res. 1, a proposed amendment to the Constitution of the United States requiring that the Supreme Court of the United States be composed of only nine Justices, via roll call vote 293. The vote failed to produce the two-thirds majority needed to pass a constitutional amendment in the House.
