Concord, NH – The leadership of the New Hampshire Republican Party, including Chairman Jim MacEachern, Vice Chairman Scott Maltzie, National Committeewoman Mary Jane Beauregard, and National Committeeman Bill O’Brien, issued the following statement on behalf of New Hampshire Republicans and all Granite Staters who have seen the devastating impact of illegal drugs on our communities, safety, and too many lives.
We deeply appreciate the bravery and professionalism of U.S. law enforcement and the United States military who took action to apprehend former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and bring him to American courts. We are also grateful for President Trump’s decision to enforce the criminal indictment against Maduro and his accomplices after years of inaction by the previous administration. This operation shows the United States’ strong commitment to fighting international narcotics trafficking and the violence it causes.
Nicolás Maduro has been under indictment since March 2020, after charges were filed in the final months of the first Trump Administration for narco-terrorism conspiracy, corruption, and large-scale drug trafficking. These charges were not pursued during the Biden years, but now Maduro and his crime cartel must answer for the allegations that thousands of American lives, including Granite Staters, were put at risk and lost as these narco-terrorists funded their own corruption and supported an illegal Venezuelan regime.
As the NH GOP leadership said, “We commend the men and women of U.S. law enforcement and the military who risked their lives last night as they do every day to protect Americans at home and abroad. New Hampshire Republicans stand firmly with every family harmed by the scourge of illegal drugs, and we will continue to support strong border security, aggressive enforcement against transnational criminal organizations, and accountability under the rule of law.”
Justice must be pursued without fear or favor, and those accused of profiting from narcotics trafficking and violence must face the consequences in American courts.
