CONCORD, NH — In today’s Union Leader, Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington claims she was duped into lobbying for Purdue Pharma, her latest excuse for her disqualifying record. But the story makes clear her pattern of putting her own self-interest over Granite Staters continued for more than a decade. 

“Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington continues to make excuses because she knows she can’t defend her disqualifying record,” said NHRSC Chairman Scott Maltzie. “The spin doesn’t change the facts: Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington chose her own self-interest over Granite State families, and voters won’t forget it in November.”

In the same article where Warmington is claiming she was duped into being an opioid lobbyist, reporter Kevin Landrigan notes that at the very same legislative hearing where Opioid Lobbyist Warmington called OxyContin a “miracle drug” with “very few side effects”, then-DHHS Commissioner Donald Shumway was already warning lawmakers that the drug was “highly addictive”. The reporting also notes that for more than a decade, Warmington represented Michael O’Connell’s PainCare network, helping negotiate a settlement tied to a kickback scandal, and lobbying against legislation that would have prevented disgraced doctors with revoked medical licenses from owning medical practices. In return for her advocacy, Warmington received nearly $50,000 in campaign funding from these bad actors.
