Concord, NH — Today, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Jim MacEachern condemned Democrat Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan for continuing to put Chuck Schumer ahead of families in need, including the 75,000 Granite Staters relying on SNAP benefits.
“Food banks are getting ready to support more families in need because Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan aren’t representing New Hampshire, they’re representing Chuck Schumer,” said NHGOP Chairman Jim MacEachern. “While they attempt to score political points, important funding for families in need is coming to an end. Shaheen and Hassan have made their choice: power over people, party over New Hampshire, and Schumer over those they swore to serve.”
MacEachern concluded, “they should be ashamed of themselves.”
While Republicans have voted over a dozen times to reopen the government and ensure funding for important programs like SNAP and WIC continues, Shaheen and Hassan continue to follow Schumer’s marching orders, leaving New Hampshire families as collateral damage in their political games.
Governor Ayotte and leaders in Concord have proposed a contingency plan for SNAP beneficiaries. To assist the more than 75,000 Granite Staters who receive SNAP benefits, the State plans to partner with the New Hampshire Food Bank to increase SNAP recipients’ access to food through the Food Bank’s mobile food pantry program and traditional food pantries located across the State.
