Opioid Lobbyist Welcomes Purdue Pharma Colleague to New Hampshire

CONCORD, N.H. — Today, Opioid Lobbyist Cinde Warmington is welcoming Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear back to New Hampshire. Beshear has his own questionable associations with Warmington’s former client, Purdue Pharma.
Warmington’s campaign has been dogged by her career of working for the opioid industry, including time lobbying for looser restrictions for OxyContin and lying on behalf of Purdue Pharma.
Last week, Warmington’s work for Purdue Pharma was put back into the spotlight in resurfaced reporting from WMUR. In the articles and stories from 2002, it was made clear that Warmington was working directly against then-Governor Jeanne Shaheen’s efforts to restrict prescriptions of the addictive opioid OxyContin. At the same time, Shaheen’s husband and Warmington’s then-boss, Billy Shaheen, distanced himself from Warmington’s work on behalf of Purdue Pharma.
Fittingly, Andy Beshear was a partner at a Kentucky law firm that represented Purdue Pharma and he later recused himself from matters involving a settlement between the state and the company due to those prior connections.
“Warmington is getting the gang back together by welcoming her fellow Purdue Pharma alumni back to the campaign trail,” said Chairman Scott Maltzie. “Warmington’s campaign has failed to gain momentum at every juncture of this race, so it’s no surprise that she’s desperate enough to go back to her Purdue Pharma rolodex.”
