Concord, NH — Today, New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Paul Callaghan released the following statement standing firmly with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and law enforcement after another federal officer was attacked in the line of duty, and criticized Democrat Congressman Chris Pappas for calling an officer’s recent defensive actions “outrageous.”
“I’ve been in law enforcement my whole career, I know first-hand how dangerous this job can be,” said Chairman Paul Callaghan. “What’s ‘outrageous’ is Chris Pappas and New Hampshire Democrats consistently siding with those who want to attack and harm our law enforcement.”
Thanks to the leadership of Governor Kelly Ayotte and Republican majorities in the State Legislature, New Hampshire passed laws to ban sanctuary cities and ensure cooperation between federal and local agencies. Those policies stand in sharp contrast to the rhetoric from Pappas and Democrats, who would rather pander to the woke, radical elements of their political base than defend public safety.
“New Hampshire is not a sanctuary state, and we will never let it become one,” Callaghan continued. “Republicans stand with ICE, and we stand with every law enforcement officer who steps up to protect our communities.”
