Annual Meeting Cancellation

January 22, 2026

Good Morning,

From NHRSC Legal Counsel Bill O’Brien:

Last night, the RNC Membership Committee completed its review and ruled that Vice Chairman Scott Maltzie is the Chair of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee.

This committee looked at the recent resignation of the NHGOP Chairman and the election that followed, and then answered a question that had not been asked.

They ruled that the vice Chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party does not have the option to decline the Chairmanship upon the resignation of the chairman.

Based on that ruling, Scott Maltzie automatically became Chairman.

From Chairman Scott Maltzie:

However you may feel about this decision from the RNC, we need to move forward as a united front. I certainly didn’t choose this path to becoming Chairman, but I take the responsibility of the role seriously. While the Democrats want chaos within the Republican Party, I believe that these recent challenges will unite us and make the NHGOP stronger than ever. It’s time to come together and take down the income tax-loving democrats in November.

Due to the anticipated dangerously frigid conditions expected for Saturday, the Annual Meeting is postponed. This decision was made in accordance with our bylaws and in consultation with the Executive Board to ensure the safety of our members and the integrity of the process.

Postponement: The Chairman may, upon notification to and consultation with the Executive Board and notice of the State Committee Membership, postpone the Annual Meeting in the event of inclement weather, unsafe conditions, or other circumstances outside the Chairman’s control. The Executive Board, at their next regularly scheduled meeting, shall set a new date for the Annual Meeting. Said meeting should occur as soon as reasonably possible. Proper notification of the new meeting date shall be provided as outlined in Article I, C, 4, a.

Per the bylaw provision above, the Executive Board and I are working with the venue to schedule a new meeting date that fully complies with the required notification timelines. Reports suggesting a February 7 meeting date are inaccurate, as that date would not meet the bylaw notification requirements.

The past several weeks have been challenging for our party. That said, I have complete confidence that we will navigate these challenges and emerge stronger, more focused, and better positioned to win than ever before. My goal is simple: to build the strongest Republican Party in the country. I hope you will join me in that effort.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, comments, or concerns. I look forward to working with each of you.

We would like to thank Paul Callaghan for his service to the New Hampshire Republican State Committee. He did not ask for his position, but he stepped up, hit the ground running and took the fight to the Democrats.
