Statement from NH GOP Chair Jeanie Forrester on Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley campaigning with Kevin Cavanaugh
CONCORD – NH GOP Chair Jeanie Forrester released the following statement after failed Democratic Presidential Candidate Martin O’Malley campaigned with Kevin Cavanaugh:
“It’s no surprise to see that Martin O’Malley would want to campaign with Kevin Cavanaugh, O’Malley has also been a vocal supporter of sanctuary cities for years. However, O’Malley and Cavanaugh can’t hide from the disastrous effects of O’Malley’s efforts to push sanctuary status on the city of Baltimore and the recklessness of Kevin Cavanaugh’s proposal for Manchester to follow suit.”
“Shortly after declaring itself a sanctuary city, homicide rates in Baltimore skyrocketed by 62%. It now has the highest homicide rate per capita of any city in the country. Violent crime, robbery, rape and assault are all way above the national average.”
“New Hampshire voters overwhelmingly rejected Martin O’Malley in last year’s Presidential Primary for good reason. Sanctuary cities were wrong for Maryland and they are wrong for New Hampshire. New Hampshire voters should reject the failed policies of O’Malley and Cavanaugh in the Senate District 16 election.”
