NHGOP STATEMENT ON LATEST HHS OBAMACARE REPORT
New Hampshire premiums have skyrocketed 32% since 2013
CONCORD – New Hampshire Republican State Committee (NHGOP) Chairman Jeanie Forrester released the following statement on the latest Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) report showing Obamacare premiums have doubled for individual health insurance plans since 2013:
“Simply put – it’s unacceptable that Obamacare has become unaffordable for so many Americans. While Republicans are working to deliver a patient-centered and flexible healthcare system, Democrats are sitting on the sidelines refusing to acknowledge reality. It’s time that Maggie Hassan, Jeanne Shaheen, Carol Shea-Porter, and Annie Kuster work with Republicans in Congress to fix our broken healthcare system that has saddled Americans with skyrocketing costs and plans that simply do not work.”
The report from HHS shows:
- New Hampshire has experienced a premium increase of 32% since 2013.
- All 39 states using Healthcare.gov experienced an increase in individual market premiums from 2013 – 2017.
- Average individual market premiums more than doubled from $2,784 per year in 2013 to $5,712 – an increase of 105%.
- 62% of states using Healthcare.gov had 2017 premiums double what was measured in 2013.
