ICYMI: Concord Monitor: “Hassan Has Tough Road On Foreign Policy”

Concord – Following their report yesterday noting that Governor Hassan “offered few policy details” on foreign policy positions and “wouldn’t name any of her advisers during the interview,” today’s Concord Monitor editorial further exposed Governor Hassan’s lack of foreign policy knowledge.

Today’s editorial is the latest in a string of reports by media outlets that have criticized Hassan for failing to give straight answers on important national security issues and “hew[ing] relentlessly to talking points.”

Please see excerpts from today’s Concord Monitor editorial below:

“At this point in her campaign, Hassan relies on advice from Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and former ambassadors Dick Swett (Denmark) and Jim Smith (Saudi Arabia)…it’s a short list that needs to grow significantly…”

“…foreign policy may well represent [Hassan’s] greatest campaign challenge…Our impression is, and has been, that Hassan prefers playing the political equivalent of the prevent defense. Her South China Sea answer, among others, reinforced that perception…

“Talking points, vague party lines and memorized factoids won’t, and shouldn’t cut it come November.”
